Apathy

Every child killed by a gun once had a beating heart. Every child killed by a gun had family, friends, and community who mourn their loss. And every child in our country is more likely to die from a gun injury than any other cause.

To remind us of these lives and potential lost, a heart that cannot beat is sewn on the outside of an empty dress. Here is a child who can no longer help solve world problems, share dreams, or enrich lives.

Every time, we shout “enough!” yet as a society we are apathetic to the lives lost to guns. In truth, we care more about profits and polling points; and we claim “personal freedoms” when we really mean “freedom for me, at your expense.”
