Too Hot To Wear My Fur Today

My series It’s Too Hot To Wear My Fur Today began with A Bare Skin Rug. This black bear cub covers the floor where a warm, furry rug would have previously been arranged in front of a hearth.  He is devoid of fur and instead shows a map of internal organs and blood vessels that crisscross an embroidered and appliquéd skin. Following the bear I created a trio of animals – two ermine and a rabbit – each prized for their fur in the clothing industry.  Also without fur, these smaller animals hang on hooks as a nod to tannery displays. Their tiny hearts, livers, and intestinal tracks are transparent interpretations of evolution in an overheated world.
